Our History

In 2009, a team was sent from Michigan, US to plant an English-speaking church by the name, HMCC of Jakarta/Tangerang, with a vision to reach people with the gospel. Over the next several years, the Lord led the church to witness the gospel change lives as well as the church to learn hard lessons in what living out the gospel means–we are thankful for all that the Lord has done.

On the 27th of August 2023, with the understanding that scripture provides God’s design and instructions for local church governance and organization, the church revised the statement of faith to an adaptation of the 1833 New Hampshire Confession of Faith and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, as well as adopted her first church constitution, becoming an elder-led, congregational-ruled church. On the 3rd of August 2025, as a culmination of our history of reform and health by the grace of God, the church voted and established her new name, Grace Baptist Church Tangerang.
